Adobe has announced a partnership project with Google and
Yahoo that will allow the two search engine companies to index Flash content.
The inability to index Flash has frustrated designers and advertisers for a
decade, because it can dramatically reduce a website’s exposure.
The initiative will allow the search giants to scan both new
and previously developed Flash content. The technology will enable search
engines to scan a myriad of embedded content, but words displayed in video and
images will be excluded. Google is already highlighting Flash content in search
results, and Yahoo is expected to follow suit in the near future.
