At the MacWorld Expo today Apple announced the Time Capsule, a device that automatically backs up everything on a Mac running the Leopoard operating system (including the Time Machine backup software). Apple is touting the Time Capsule as simple to use, and the only back-up drive needed for an entire house full of Macs.
“Bring Time Capsule home, plug it in, click a few buttons on your Macs and voila–all the Macs in your house are being backed up automatically, every hour of every day,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “With Time Capsule and Time Machine, all your irreplaceable photos, movies and documents are automatically protected and incredibly easy to retrieve if they are ever lost.”
The Time Capsule may also serve as a power source and a Wi-Fi hub. Steve Jobs delivered the MacWorld conference keynote address this afternoon, stay tuned for further coverage.
