Media Notables Launch Women-Only Website

by Sarah Wurrey on March 6, 2008

Media veterans Leslie Stahl and Peggy Noonan, along with New York Post colmnist Liz Smith, publishing guru Joni Evans, and advertising legend Mary Wells (who was behindthe iconic “I love New York” ad campaign) are launching a new website aimed at women over forty, and have recruited some big names to lend a hand.

The site, Wowowow.com, officially launches on Saturday, and will include contributions from many other high-profile women over 40, including Whoopi Goldberg and Candice Bergen. The site will focus on a number of topics, from pop culture and fashion to news and politics, along with lighter elements like horoscopes and advice.

While all five of the site’s founders are well respected in their feilds and well known forces in the media, they admit to being Web newbies, and discuss the initial troubles with everything from registering a domain name to the site design in a New York Times report.
