Dell has become the latest PC manufacturer to announce an inexpensive line of notebook computers. The laptops will have a retail price that starts at $499. Comprehensive specifications are not yet available, but the computer is expected to be similar to Hewlett Packard’s Mini Note. Representatives from Taiwan-based Compal have revealed plans to build 300,000 of the new laptops for Dell. The Dell notebooks are expected to ship in June.
