“Friends” star to headline an online-only series

Lisa Kudrow, star of the popular TV sitcom “Friends” from 1994 until 2004, is set to return to the small screen–the computer screen, that is. In the first offering from the new online-only “TV’ channel sponsored by automaker “Lexus,” Kudrow will helm the cast of a new show in which she plays a “nutty psychiatrist.”

Lexus hopes to create some brand buzz with their collection of online video content, in the same way that Budweiser attempted with the launch of Bud.tv. According to one report, “the creation of a marketer-branded broadband channel also is bound to get attention given its only precedent: Bud.TV, a similar venture Budweiser kicked off after the Super Bowl in 2006 only to watch it fail after a reported $30 million investment.”
