This week, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), Republican candidate for vice president, suffered a security break resulting in the exposure of the governor’s emails to hackers. According to a report in PC Magazine, the hack was actually relatively simple and required very little technological expertise.
The hackers were able to access Palin’s Yahoo! email account via the services password recovery system. When prompted, the system asks the user for a series of answers to personal questions, such as their hometown or mother’s maiden name. The hackers were able to find all the information they needed to hack the governor’s email via popular social resource Wikipedia.org.
