Nominees for Webby Awards Announced

The nominees for this year’s Webby Awards have been announced, and the nominees represent a wide variety of styles and content for websites, video, and online advertising. Some of this year’s nominees are widely recognized campaigns like the Old Spice guy campaign, which responded to Tweets via short YouTube videos, to the Rated Awesome “Twitter Movie Trailer,” a spoof of the trailer for the movie The Social Network.

In addition to having official judges such as Arianna Huffington, Biz Stone, and Martha Stewart, the public also is invited to vote for their favorites. Popular categories include:

  • Best Viral Video
  • Best Individual Performance
  • Comedy: Individual or Short Episode
  • Comedy: Long Form or Series
  • Best Video Remix/Mashup
  • Best Viral Marketing
  • Best Music
  • Best Web Personality
  • Best Drama
  • Best Weird
  • Best Humor
  • Best Community
  • Best Practices
  • Best Retail
  • Best Celebrity/Fan
  • Best Mobile Games (Handheld Devices)
  • Best Mobile Social Networking (Handheld Devices)
  • Best Mobile Music (Handheld Devices)
  • Best Social (Tablet Devices)

There are more categories from which to choose, and voting remains open through April 28th. Winners will be announced on May 3rd, with an awards ceremony to be held on June 13th. The Webby Awards are now in their 15th year.
