Communicators never want their organization to be at the center of a crisis, but the recent multitude of crises affecting well-known companies remind professionals about the importance of planning and proper management techniques to minimize risk and severity.
With this in mind, CARMA sponsored Crisis Communications: Manage (and Avoid) Crises with Media Monitoring, a webinar that took place on May 18. Host Shel Holtz, Principal of Holtz Communication + Technology, kicked off the conversation by stating, “The definition of a crisis, to me, is anything that you weren’t expecting that threatens your reputation, your profitability, and your license to operate.” This explanation provided a useful basis for the discussions that took place throughout the rest of the session.
Shel and co-host Jennifer Zingsheim Phillips, founder of 4L Strategies, covered handling a crisis during its various stages, examples afflicting organizations, and using media monitoring tools to manage crises.
A recording of the full session is available on CARMA’s YouTube channel and the slide deck is available on the Slide Share account.
